Beginnings is an exciting, new novel that appeared recently through Archebooks Publishing, http://www.archebooks.com/.

Synopsis of Beginnings

Everyone has an opportunity to express their dominant side in life. For most of us, this means exerting ourselves in our professions, relationships, and leisure activities. For Adda, a 200,000-year-old caveman, it was a behavioral expression of the utmost importance for his survival in a primeval African forest. When computer print-outs were translated from Adda's reanimated brain by Drs. Mark Blum and Susan Striker, they realized the true meaning of "survival of the fittest."

Back Cover Explanation

For paleontologist Mark Blum, the finding of Adda, a 200,000-year-old caveman buried in ice atop Mt. Kilimanjaro, was the breakthrough he needed to change his life.
*
For Adda, it was an opportunity through modern technology to tell an amazing story about his life in primeval Africa at the dawn of human emergence.
*
Never before had science uncovered an early human who could actually tell his story. Mark and his colleague Susan Striker learn about the beginnings of complex behaviors, such as love, hate, intrigue, and deceit. In the end, they draw parallels with their own lives and realize that their two worlds are not that far apart.

Comments About Beginnings from Other Writers

Henry Hermann has taken a fascinating premise--being able to communicate with a primitive human--and has created an intriguing science-fiction novel. Beginnings is laced with likeable characters, adventure, romance, and an intriguing plot with unexpected and satisfying twists and turns. A splendid read.

Amazon.com Review of Beginnings on May 6, 2009

*

When paleontologist Mark Blum finds himself somewhat ostracized and running low of funding on a dig site at the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro, he takes a handful of graduate students on a re-energizing hike up the mountain. Little does he know that the hike will not only give them new perspective, but also will provide them the breakthrough that modern technology has been preparing to manipulate for years.
*
The group finds an early human buried in the ice. With a team of the best scientists of the day, including the lovely Susan Striker, Mark can use the latest advances in science and technology to protect, manipulate, and ultimately communicate with this early human. But Mark is helpless to watch his great discovery thaw into delicate, decaying bits as colleagues try to preserve this one fragile piece of his career.
*
Henry Hermann has assembled a cast of intelligent, likeable characters who garner your sympathy from the start. It's not just the lonely Mark Blum that the reader wants to see succeed (despite the odds and embittered colleagues stacked against him). We also look at the creature he's pulled from the ice.
*
We see the 200,000-year-old caveman named Adda who is reduced to a mere brain floating in fluids and hooked up to electrodes and computers, fighting to survive long enough to tell his story. And we want to hear every detail as the complex story unfolds. We pull for Adda. We feel his emotions. We fight alongside him. We love the things he loves. We fear the things he fears.
*
What a gift Henry Hermann has for pulling us into the past within the blink of an eye. The parallels between Adda's life and Mark's are cleverly worked through the narration. How interesting to see Henry Hermann so subtly present man's struggles as unchanged on some base level even after 200,000 years. I applaud this author. This is science fiction at its best and I highly recommend Beginnings for readers of the genre.

Synopsis

*

With the establishment of a New Orleans fertility clinic, an unprecedented genetic cross results in the birth of a demented male child called Lance Housler who grows up to be one of the nation’s most enigmatic serial killers.

Although under careful scrutiny by psychologists most of his life, Lance manages to carry out his terrible deeds without detection until the timely collaboration of three important people leads to his identity.

Under investigation by FBI Special Agent Patricia Clayton, he contemplates his next move, away from the close scrutiny of those he had suspected of spying on him all along. At his apartment, where human body parts and pictures of his victims are grim representations of people who had experienced his perverted mind, Special Agent Clayton discovers how he reminisced about the people he had violent relationships with.

Henry Hermann’s earlier novel, Beginnings, portrayed humanoids, their behavior and environment as they actually must have been 200,000 years ago, at the dawn of human emergence. The Tooth Fairy takes us to yet another level of human behavior, one which involves a twisted mind in a contemporary setting, revealing what can happen when the human genome is tampered with.

The Tooth Fairy has recently been released. Request a copy at Barnes & Noble, Double Day Bookstore, Books-A-Million, Amazon.com and the Xlibris Corporation.

Special emphasis is put on the flute, the only melodic instrument developed by indigenous Americans. It covers a period in time commencing with the first Americans as they arrive from their Asian homeland to contemporary America where numerous non-natives are enjoying the instrument that underwent its major development during the early 1800s. While the central theme is about the presence and evolution of the flute, the origin and significance of their music, their culture, and hardships through prehistoric and historic periods, as well as climatic changes that have influenced life and the preservation of artifacts during the period in which people occupied North America, are discussed in detail. I really admire this, I mean it really looks interesting! I'm actually glad to see all this stuff, to see that this world offers creativity and ideas other than what my lonesome small town provides. This world is quite the big place and to encounter a story such as this one just puts me out of my ordinary. I got a hand it to whoever wrote this, you've really kept me updated! Now, let's just hope that I can come across another Blog just as interesting :)
